OUR CSR POLICIES
We recognise that we have a duty to conduct our business in a manner which is ethical, and are committed to managing our business processes while taking account of their social, economic and environmental impact, and considering human rights.
Our CSR policies have been developed to reflect the values against which we hold ourselves accountable to, both as a company and an employer.
ENVIRONMENTAL
We fully acknowledge our responsibility to minimise the negative effects of climate change for future generations. We have achieved ISO 14001 for Environmental Management.
RECYCLING RAW MATERIALS AND PACKAGING
As we supply safety related products and services, all of our products must be produced from virgin material. To offset the effect this has, we provide a full recycling service for PPE purchased (except where it contains contamination).
Our packaging is made from 76% recycled material. All cardboard is baled, recycled and put back into circulation by accredited recycle providers. We are currently exploring ways to minimise the use of plastic and to reduce our energy consumption by 10% for 2021/22.
THE USE OF HYBRID AND ELECTRIC TECHNOLOGY
All our warehouse forklift and picking vehicles are 100% electric. We promote the use of hybrid technology in company vehicles and incentives are in place to encourage hybrid or electric purchases.
SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING
Safeaid has a zero tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking and expects the same from its suppliers. As a manufacturer working with overseas suppliers, it is paramount that our slavery and human trafficking policies are robust and regularly audited. We employ the services of third-party auditors to manage our overseas visits and factory inspections. Every factory is audited in advance to ensure high standards of safety and welfare for their workforce are met. Regular monitoring continues thereafter to ensure these high standards are maintained.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY
We support several local, national and international charities and community schemes, in particular, those that help vulnerable children and young people. These include the Children's Society, The Red Cross and the Rapid Relief Team.
SUPPORT FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS
We sponsor a Career Advantage Programme, designed to support young people at the point of entering the workplace.
We are an associate sponsor of CETC (Civil Engineering Training College), established in 2017 by a group of civil engineering employers, academia and local authorities. Created to address the acute skills shortage, CETC has seen unprecedented levels of success and the delivery of a purpose-built, two acre replica construction site close to the CEMAST (Centre of Excellence in Engineering, Manufacturing and Advanced Skills Training) Campus in Hampshire.
